Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer, and dancer. She began her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is in the production for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over an Century. She was in two seasons on the cult CBS comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also featured Ben Vereen and Hector Elizondo. Other Broadway performances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
